The Open ModPlug Tracker, originally ModPlug Tracker is a music tracker http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracker_ (music) for the PC and the Windows operating system. He is one of the best known and most widely trackers, the British Computer Music magazine has named the MPT in 2007 as one of the top five free music trackers. The program was originally developed by Olivier Lapicque based on the ModPlug westlog browser westlog plug-in and the ModPlug players westlog that are limited to the reproduction of modules. The first version was released in September 1997, making it one of the oldest pure Windows Tracker. Older known PC Tracker, such as the Fast Tracker or Impulse Tracker were designed for, nor for MS-DOS. Lapicque introduced in 2004, the source code under the GPL, and thus enabled the further development under the name OpenMPT. The Schism westlog Tracker is another tracker based on the ModPlug code. In this project, many bug fixes were made to the ModPlug Library, westlog which later were incorporated in the OpenMPT (backport).
