High Line Park is located 2.3 kilometer-long air track that was built in the 1930s, but was no longer in use. Since 1934 the air path, which runs parallel to the 10th Avenunen, were used for the transport of meat and poultry in Manhattan's west side. When the transport facilities on the roads increased, the track was used in the air less and less. The last train ran on the track at the air in 1980.
High Line Park's construction costs were estimated in 2003 to cost $ 150 million. The city is in principle had so desired. New York City, however, estimates the park to increase the value of surrounding homes, which in turn would bring in more tax revenues, and decided to build the park. In 2006, the park began in the first part of the building and it was opened to the public in June 2009. Another part of the park was opened in 06.08.2011. Eric's note: High Line Park is in my opinion a truly unique park in New York. The park is beautiful, offers a unique view of the city and is a real piece of urban nature. High Line Park is at its best in spring and summer. In winter, the park is less vegetation, 2 card monte but it is still worth a visit.
